In this unit, I can understand why it's so difficult to learn the tenses for those that have Mandarin as their mother language. I have a little understanding of the Mandarin language after having lived in China for nearly 2 years. It's unnatural for them to form phrases using up to 12 different tenses. This must make learning the English language challenging. The Chinese people would tell me that speaking in English would make their brains very tired after a short period of time. After studying and reviewing Unit 4, this is even more clear to me. This gives me a greater understanding of their struggle to learn English and a feeling of compassion for when I will be teaching them the English language. Sean Clarke
