Reading and listening is extremely important receptive skills in our daily walks of life and especially utilized in education. These two skills serve both for a purpose as well as entertainment. However, a pre-existing knowledge of the world would be necessary when reading or listen to the world. Depending on how one wants to approach the two goals of purpose and/or fun, there are many methods such as reading the title to predict the content, scanning, skimming, reading for details, etc. With these approaches in mind, the teacher must keep in mind that interest and motivation of the students are important to attract them to learning.
