Teach English in ShAnglin XiAng - Cangzhou Shi
In this unit, I learned about the productive skills of writing and speaking and that their primary function is communication, though people also employ them when they want to say something, listen to something, or are interested in what is being said. I learned that activities focusing on productive skills can emphasize either accuracy or fluency. For instance, controlled activities optimize for accuracy, whereas creative communication exercises care less about accuracy and focus on fluency by encouraging students to produce their own language output. I also learned about the reasons students might have for not participating in speaking exercises, and what tactics the teacher can employ to encourage them to join in.
