Unit 5 was all about learning how to be effective in the classroom with regards to interaction, classroom arrangement, classroom management, and classroom discipline. This unit helped with understanding what ways to help engage students better and which ways students struggle with being involved. I think it's important to use eye contact, gestures, and one's voice to maintain a good rapport with students. I enjoyed looking at the positives and negatives of different seating arrangements. In my experience, classes have been arranged in orderly rows, so it was great looking at the pros and cons of using horseshoe and individual seating arrangements. Helpful hints on how to deal with discipline was great to read as well.
