This unit covers different modes of past tense: past simple, past continuous, past perfect, and past perfect continuous. They operate extremely similarly to present tense, except that they express events that have already occurred. Some of these constructions express events that happened at a definite point in time or refer to a period of time during which something happened (but does not occur until the present time). A difficult that I anticipate while teaching students is the unfortunate use of irregular verbs in English. The unit notes that there is no pattern or rule to remembering these; they must simply be memorized, so I will be coming up with lesson plans that will hopefully facilitate easier learning of these verbs.
