In this unit the statement about a students receptive vocabulary stood out to me as it is something I have experienced when trying to learn a new language. It can be easy to remember words but if the student isn't comfortable using it in a sentence than it's not doing much good. That is why I think the emphasis on making sure students fully understand a word, sentence or grammar within a sentence very important.This unit was about course books and lesson material. I learned that, although course books have many advantages, they should be used more as an outline or rough guide instead. A teacher should use creative supplements to the course book that cater to the students' skill level and interests. I found this unit to be helpful as it provided examples of created materials that we can use to supplement the text books.
