This unit reviews how course books are important but it is also important for a teacher to supplement the lesson with other materials. These are authentic and created materials. Authentic materials can include songs, poems, brochures, menus, and films. Created materials can include crosswords, role play cards, gap fill activities, etc. The unit also discusses the advantages and disadvantages of using course books.As a native english speaker I have taken for granted english grammar. It has been significantly helpful to complete this unit as someone with no previous knowledge of the subject would be introduced to the parts of speech. I find that simplicity is essential to gaining a strong foundation of any new subject matter, and I feel more confident in being able to move forward with additional grammar lessons as a result.
