This unit discussed the effectiveness of different techniques regarding writing and speaking. An interesting feature of the writing section was the importance placed on penmanship. I never usually considered penmanship to be a factor that affected a person's ability to comprehend someone else's writing. As a student, however, I feel as though I would've preferred someone to care more about my handwriting as I was growing up.The unit has given me a good idea of the kinds of tests to use to evaluate a student's progress in the classroom. Learning about the different types of English language tests available was interesting as I was only aware of a few of them. The examples of placement tests was useful as it helped me understand the progression of English skills to the tested. Thus better understanding the level of proficiency each student is at.
