This unit was very interesting and was a joy to read through. I sat in on two ESL classes at my local library and I was able to see the different teaching methods in action, and was able to dissect the teachers Patchwork style of lesson. I Loved learning about all the creative ways to start a lesson with different games, warm up activities, and partner or group work activities. The study aspect was very interesting that this is where the nuts and bolts of the lesson was learned and the use of worksheets, drills, tongue twisters and grammar games would be used to help drive home the lesson. The activate stage is the most free and creative and allows the students to use the newly learned material and expand upon older material. The creativity factor to let students create brochures, debate, or role play seemed the most fun to me. I loved learning about the methods that were used to teach and I am very happy that we are using the ESA method, because it incorporates all of the previous methods and gives us more freedom to tailor the lessons better to the classroom parameters.
