This unit is about pronunciation and phonology, the latter part is a rather difficult topic as it relates to concepts about the speech organ and the different ways of how different sounds are made. I have learnt alot in this unit as it is not commonly taught at school. For pronunciation, it is normally taught in speaking lesson. Practice makes perfect, and hence teachers always merge pronunciation practice into speaking lessons. However, we always neglect the importance of teaching stress and intonation, as these naturally occur to us in our daily life speaking. However, these might be difficult to English learners. Phonology is another challenging topic, however it is observed that phonics is now especially popular in early-age learning. Many education institutions introduce phonics into playgroups, and in my opinion it is a good way to improve students' spelling if they can master phonics skill (especially in the unseen part). As theories about structures of our speech organs might be a rather boring topic, teachers should rather put more focus on teaching phonemic symbols.
