Unit 5 discussed the ways in which the classroom can be managed. Essentially, the lesson type/activity will dictate the classroom arrangement most suitable. Economics plays a vital role in all this because having the necessary resources in terms of classroom furniture and teaching/learning supplies makes for a very productive environment. I have taught in classes where the resources weren't available and had to create or buy them; sometimes, the struggle was suffocating. Unit 5 explained how the positioning of the teacher in the classroom affects the flow of learning and maintaining discipline. Likewise, the voice level of the teacher all throughout provides necessary cues to students as to what they need to or should be doing. Unit 5 presents reasons for a teacher making sure to match the classroom arrangement to the type of lesson/activity allow for success. Also, learning the students' names is a key factor in the learning process because students need equal amounts of time, know that their ideas matter, understand that they need to contribute to their own learning, etc.
