This unit provides a list of the various roles that teachers have from leading the class as a manager to taking a less controlling role as a resource in order to give the students more freedom and time to practice together and think about the lesson. The lesson also talks about the diversity of students and how to deal with certain groups, whether they are of different ages or skill levels. I found this to be the most useful because most of my experience is with adults so it is interesting to see how teaching children is different from teaching adults. Children are also split into three separate categories (post puberty, pre puberty and very young) with their own unique characteristics. Very young learners are more flexible and motivated than the post pubescent kids who do not want to seem uncool by enjoying the class, but they also have shorter time spans do not fully understand the concepts of grammar. I also learned what makes a student a good student, which includes being motivated, accepting criticism, not being afraid to ask questions and actively listening and participating.
