This unit gives English language teachers some more tools for designing their classes including the actual lesson plan structure, and how each phase of the class should be constructed. Teachers have many options when it comes to class design, but in general, their classes should include at least one of each phase: engage, study, and activate in order to best help students learn the language. Each phase helps students grow in their use of the language in different ways: the engage stage gets students talking, the study phase helps to correct errors and gives students new information, and the activate phase makes students use this new information in a dynamic way. Classes can include several of these phases, and, depending on time, this could be preferrable in order to keep students engaged in learning. The lesson gave some fun examples of games and activities to use in the engage phase which I am excited to use and adapt for my own teaching purposes. I could also revisit some of the summer camp games used in previous jobs in order to keep the engage activities fresh and interesting.
