Grammar is an important part of speech that we use in our everyday speech. In order to form correct sentences, one has to understand to correctly use it. As a teacher it?s important to understand how to use English grammar because at one your career you going you going to have to teach grammar. Each word in a sentence can either be classified as a noun, verb, pronoun, preposition, article or a gerund. A verb is an action word as a well a state word. State verbs don?t take the continuous or progressive forms. A verb can further be classified as a transitive verb or an intransitive verb. A transitive verb is a verb directly followed by an object. For example, Mary hit David. Mary is the subject and David is the object. An intransitive verb is a verb that cannot be followed by an object. Nouns are naming words. They describe a place, thing or concept. They are classified as countable and uncountable nouns. Adjectives modify or describe nouns. Adverbs modify or describe verbs. Pronouns take the place of a noun and prepositions show the relationship between a noun and a pronoun.
