The content of this unit covers classroom management, such as how a teacher should effectively utilize their voice, eye contact, gestures, and language (e.g., language level appropriate for the students' level of understanding) to conduct lessons, how classrooms can be arranged depending on what is done in class (e.g., a setup for lectures vs. a setup for group work), and how a teacher can address behavioral problems in the classroom. I learned that even though a typical classroom setting is usually having the students' desks arranged in orderly rows (and this kind of setup is often best with big classes and for lectures), that doesn't mean the desks have to stay that way at all times; the arrangement can and should be changed according to what is being done in class so that each activity can be carried out effectively. I also learned that some behavioral problems can be out of a teacher's hands, but nonetheless, a teacher can do various things to prevent or manage them--including asking their colleagues for help; it doesn't hurt to ask for advice or aid when needed in such situations.
