This unit focused on the topics of conditionals and reported speech. There are five conditionals - zero, first, second, third and mixed. Conditionals are about past, present and future possibilities and are made up of two clauses - the if clause and the main clause. Conditionals can refer to facts. For example, the zero conditional would be \"If you eat too much candy, you will get a stomach ache.\" Conditionals are also used for hypothetical situations, such as the second conditional. An example of the second conditional is \"If I had a private jet, I would fly all over the world all the time.\" It is a hypothetical situation because the chance of me getting a private jet is next to zero. The second section of the unit focused on the difference between reported speech and direct speech as well as time expressions. Direct speech is a quote of someone directly speaking. An example is Tim: \"I am going to the mall.\" Reported speech is something that a person reports about another person saying in a previous conversation. An example is Phil said that he was going to the mall that evening.
