This unit taught the basics of pronunciation and phonetics. It was a little difficult to learn the phonetics, so I think I will need to print off a copy of the pronunciation sheet, and perhaps watch some further videos to get a good grasp. I think this could also because of differences in pronunciation between different countries. It is definitely a big subject, so the unit did a good job of covering the basics, but it definitely needs self study, but as different students have different troubles, I feel this could be done within the the preparations of lessons. Also the stressing of syllables in a sentence is difficult to figure out without knowing the context. I figure this is a difficult concept to teach via a textbook however. I found the ideas for teaching stresses and intonation to be quite useful, and could picture using them within my class. I liked the activities of having to decipher the phonetic alphabet, I think it was useful, but again, the Yogi Bear example was a little difficult because of accent and also figuring out which symbols were dipthongs or individual letters.
