This Unit sets out and explains the course structure. What to expect, what is expected of me as a student and what the possibilities/expectations are the this special focus course. It lists the basic objectives for the course (Learn the industry vocabulary, understand teacher roles, learn to create syllabus based on student needs [via needs assessment], how to keep your expectations realistic based on assessments that we learn to do from the course and finally to be aware of ways to further develop as an aspiring teacher. It spent a bit more time addressing the umbrella term \"Teaching of English for Specific Purposes\" (ESP) and where an ESP teacher could work (Medical personnel/banking/academic/ law/engineering - just to start) and what they need to now and be the most effective in that special topic. One important key to this unit is that it listed and explained the basic acronyms as an introduction to professional vocabulary for the Business English Teacher. In addition, the explanations of specific units and their associated materials presented a plan by which to organize my studies.
