Lesson planning is an important part of teaching for me. It allows me to visualize how the class would be like, and gives me the possibilities of all the activities that we can do in the class, in relation to a certain lesson. Although there are days I can do away without a lesson, planning is a habit that must be formed by a teacher so the lesson flow would be instilled in her, regardless of having a concise written one, or one on the level of ideas. Lesson planning also allows you to go back to methods and activities that were effective for a certain group of students and saves you time when you have to teach the same lesson again. Of course, you have to be very considerate of the group composition, but the plan serves as a testament that this type of activity or method is effective, while this one is not. Quite like packing for a trip, lesson planning allows you to be prepared in expecting the worst but also hoping for the best. Wherever the flow of the lesson goes, it is better to always be prepared, especially since language teaching encompasses such a dynamic and lively scope.
