Lesson materials such as books and materials are useful in helping the teacher stay on track with the students. Authentic material is a great side tool to make the classroom material diverse. Authentic material: programs, magazines,newspapers, songs, poems, brochures, menus, and films on video. Created material is a great way the teacher can use his/her creativity. Once the teacher understands her students needs creating material to go along with course book/syllabus is wonderful. Created material: crosswords, word search, role-play cards, flashcards, gap-fill activities, and picture stories. Course books consist of a set of material that was also checked. The positive aspect of course books is most students expect them and it continually practices languages items previously introduced. When using the course book plan your lessons based around what will motivate your students. What will you need to supplement/adapt/replace. There are some disadvantages to course books some include: it does not suit students interests, it can be predictable, and teachers rarely get to choose the course book.
