Unit 3 involved how to manage a class, the right ways to respond to problem behaviour, the different ways to set out the class with seating arrangements and where to position yourself as a teacher and when. I learnt the different techniques to reduce teacher talk time and that it is best to just keep it simple, carefully choose the language you use when giving instructions, use mimes or gestures and use language below the level being taught, avoiding any TEFL jargon. I also learn how to reduce the amount of time your back was facing the students/classroom, preventing this by writing on the board before class, or while the students are occupied with study or an activity, or getting them to write on the board them selves. One specific response that i learnt when responding to problem behaviour was to focus on the behaviour not the student. Making eye contact with the students at all times is so important because it shows them that they are involved in the lesson without even saying anything and it also gives you a chance to ensure the students understand and are listening to what they need to do.
