Unit 20 gives a quick summary of common problem situations and how to troubleshoot them. On the first lesson in a new teaching position, a TEFL instructor must establish rapport between the students and between themselves and the students. It is also important to learn a little about them, their English level, and what they hope to gain from this English class. In order to motivate the students, it is recommended to do some \"warmers\" such as hangman, pictionary, tongue twister etc... so it gets the students in the mood to learn english. Often a teacher will be put in charge of a class with many different levels, in this case there are a number of ways a teacher can address this such as using different materials, assigning different tasks, pairing strong students with weak students or just letting it be.When teaching large classes, an instructor can use worksheets, pair/group work, choral repetition to involve all the students. The use of native language in a classroom may occur but a TEFL instructor should only respond in English, and should constantly remind the students to speak in English.
