This unit briefly touched on different issues that may arise when teaching. It was more of a general unit that did not go into any particular problems in any detail. I think more information could have been put into each sub-topic, as the information was quite light and I read through the material in a very short time. I think it would have been useful to focus more on issues such as different levels and large class sizes, an issue which I think many school based ESL teachers will face. For example, I teach nine classes of 40 students, and seven classes of 20 students per week. It is extremely difficult to monitor each student and adapt lessons, given size and time constraints. strategies for dealing with this mixed problems would be useful, although I understand too the constraints this has as a 120 hour course. I do think however that this unit, and in fact this course, has given some good points to think about, such as providing varied levels of work, and while I have been eager to minimise the use of worksheets, I think it is something i need to reintroduce into my classes, to some degree.
