This unit presents videos of the same lessons taught twice. Specifically, it is an English lesson taught to a group of Thai students. The videos are very helpful because they show how real lessons are taught: in the first video the teacher makes a series of basic errors, whilst the second lesson is taught effectively. It is particularly beneficial to compare the two lessons and clearly understand which are the dos and don?ts for a teacher in the classroom: which should be the teacher?s attitude towards the students in order to keep their motivation high, how to use the voice and a vocabulary appropriate to the level that is being taught, how to effectively give explanations, instructions and monitor the learners. Analysing the teacher?s behaviour during the different phases of the lessons is helpful to understand what is the most effective way to motivate the students and keep their motivation high as well as a positive attitude throughout the lesson. It is now clear how all this factors contribute to the engagement of the students during class and facilitate the learning process.
