Teach English in GuAnzhai Miaozu XiAng - Bijie Shi
The most valuable idea I took out of this unit was the concept of omit, replace, supplement, and adapt. Today for example, I was teaching a new piano student and I didn't anticipate the \"adapt\" part for my lesson. I needed to adapt the lesson to the student's needs. I was told that my new student had piano lessons before, but what the mom didn't tell me was that he had the lessons 5 years ago. So he had little knowledge of note names, where the notes are on the piano, and needed review of reading notes. As a result, I was limited on time and did not have enough time to cover the things I wanted. Had I made a realistic time frame for each topic I was going to cover, I would have been able to answer all potential questions and completed everything I wanted to complete. I also liked the idea of using a course book. When I first began teaching piano, I strictly followed my piano course book. But through my years of experience, I found that straying from the course book is perfectly okay to do - especially when the student has other interests. That's the only way to keep students motivated to learn.
