Teach English in FengshAn Yizu Menggǔzu XiAng - Bijie Shi
The use of a course book is dependent on several factors: the availability in your local area, the audience targeted, and teacher preference. After many years of teaching, a teacher may find they have created or modified/adapted enough lessons to facilitate their own lesson plans without the aid of a coursebook, but for young teachers without experience, the coursebook may be as the \"holy grail\" guiding them, showing them the way of (many) teachers before them. If anything a course book could be used as an outline, graphing out an effective teaching pattern that has been tested and proven to be effective on students; not be in a \"too\" confusing order, not leaving anything important out, and effective in course flow. But I believe, although a guideline a coursebook should not be the only thing taught, this material is best supplemented and adapted to fit the specific needs of the young learners, their culture, and interests. Course books do also, give an outline that can be easily presented/distributed to supervisors, parents, and other teaching staff members, to prove effort and congruency.
