The idea of having to learn to create a lesson plan in completing my 120hr TEFL course was intimidating as someone that is new to teaching. In completing unit 1 for this course and learning that we would be learning to construct a course syllabus was yet again intimidating. However, I like the way this unit broke down how you go from a syllabus to units and then to lesson plans. I have been a student for many years and honestly I never really gave much thought of attention to how you go from a syllabus down to the lesson plan it self. The only thing as a student that I ever gave any attention to the class syllabus for was to know the dates of the different exams. If you are not really aware of auch things then you don't really five them much attention. I especially like the idea of getting the students input on the syllabus through use of the needs analysis and the learner-led syllabus. As a student I don't recall any of my professors/teachers allowing for this. I will definitely keep this in mind once I enter the classroom while at the same time not relinquishing too much control over to the students.
