Engage, Study, and Activate. Repeat. This is the basis for lessons throughout the modern TEFL teaching. While I have experience teaching, I didn't realize I was falling into certain categories that were outlined throughout this chapter. Some I'm ashamed of doing like Grammar Translation, in my teaching as well as my learning. However, most of my teaching has taken on some of the better methods like Communicative Language Teaching or Task Based Learning. The chapter started out with talking about several different methods: their benefits, advantages and disadvantages, and their current uses. After outlining these, the chapter talked about Elicitation. The average human can provide as much as an answer to their own questions sometimes as the teacher can straight out telling them. The key to this is eliciting their use of the english language and making it become almost second nature much like their L1 language.
