Teach English in Daping Miaozu Yizu XiAng - Bijie Shi
I found this unit to be helpful as a reflection of the present tenses. For example, in this unit, it was noted how the past perfect tense causes confusion with the past continuous tense and the present perfect tense. I have to keep in mind that tenses refer to the action and when that action took place and if that action is still taking place. I will have to get my students to ask themselves whether the action was completed or not given the context of example sentences in order to understand appropriate use of tenses. When studying the past tenses, I am reminded how even native English language speakers make mistakes. I imagine everyone does not know the reasoning behind certain past tenses and their correctness over other tenses. In my studies of foreign languages, the past perfect usually relates to the past present, if there were a sentence connecting two clauses with separates ideas in them. The same is true of present simple and present perfect. They inform each other. Another thing to keep in mind is the use of auxiliary verbs, because they can provide tips as to how the verb should be conjugated.
