Unit 19 is about how to teach a variety of audiences. All people are not the same when it comes to their level of English, and this unit teaches us how to categorize these individuals (beginner, false beginner, adult beginner, etc,) based on their level of English, interests, and needs. This unit gave examples of what a beginner class with young children would be like, the pros and cons, and how it is primarily the teacher?s responsibility to provide interest, excitement, and attention in the classroom. The unit also addressed what a business English class would be like, and how it is the teacher?s responsibility to identify, through the use of a needs analysis, what the clients are interested in learning, what English they need to learn for their jobs, and their strengths and weaknesses within the English language. I liked how this unit also covered what to expect when teaching a multi-lingual class. I have always taught mono-lingual English classes so it was good to learn for my future career how to work with classes that involve people from different countries and speak different languages.
