Teach English in XitiangezhuAng Zhen - Beijing
Teaching one to one Teaching one to one is more beneficial to both the student and the teacher than we would like to think. For the inexperienced teacher, this type of teaching could provide a safe haven for exploring what works and what does not work. Compromise is one word that one would often see accompanied with this type of teaching. When common ground is found for both teacher and student, only then can both fully reap the benefits. More and more people should prefer to be taught EFL on a one to one basis. The lessons for this type of teaching are specifically designed to cater to the individual needs of the student. An assessment is done upfront to find out what the student needs, i.e. what are his/her goals, why does he/she want to study English, how will English language competencies be used in the future, etc. In addition, if you had thought that this was strictly business than your mistaken, because on each of these meetings student and teacher develop a strong relationship and understanding. It is argued that classroom dynamics are lost through the conduction of one to one lessons, but this is not entirely true. The individual teacher, together with his/her enthusiasm, can ensure that a re-enactment of the real classroom is in order. Psychology does play a big role in setting the right mood for the perfect teaching environment and with a lot of courage and a little imagination; individual teachers can make sure that a real teaching environment is never lost. The teacher acts as the prompter and the partner to the student and this enhances the learning experience greatly. Individuals tend to get a lot of practice both during the lesson and after it. The teacher would make sure to prepare enough material not to run out. Motivation is not a worrying factor in teaching one to one. Although students with prior commitments may suffer tiredness, the lesson can be adapted using the minimum amount of material. This ensures that the learning process is not forced but gradual. These lessons would tend to be more conversation-like, which is yet again another reason why more people should prefer it. Controlled conversation ensures that the student learns both grammar and vocabulary. The biggest benefit of this is that the student gets to talk and this what all tefl teachers love about their students. Individual students have different needs, but one student is limited to only his/her needs (for his/her goals). Teaching one to one deals with the needs of only one student and greater emphasis is thus put on preparation and delivery of materials. Yet again, with the imagination of the ?super? teacher, games and activities from a classroom setting can be carefully adapted to suit the individual student. Teaching one to one could be tiring to the teacher, but teachers tend to be focused more on the successes and headway that they had made in teaching the individual. Individuals are easy to troubleshoot and discipline problems are not really a worrying factor. Teaching one to one activities could include quizzes, short stories, and articles among other things. There is no way in which the teacher could have the student bored, in which case it is most certainly the teacher?s fault. Filling time with the appropriate videos, songs, and visuals ensures that time for both the student and teacher is well spent. Teaching one to one is ideal for pursuing ones English language proficiency without the hassles of discipline problems and having to test a group of students for their language levels. If the teacher is not a fan of crowds and an introvert then one to one teaching proves to be the best solution.
