Why Complete a tefl course Is most likely a question that many people will ask themselves? My research will give a person insight to the opportunities that would be available to him or her in completing a tefl course. There are a number of reasons why a native English-speaker might undertake a tefl course. It can provide the skills that would allow a person to live and work in another country, where it may otherwise be difficult to find employment, it can also assist with the required visa applications. By living abroad, a person would have the opportunity to experience a foreign culture on a level that would not otherwise be possible if simply visiting whilst on holiday. It also allows the individual to make a positive impact on other people?s lives, which is much harder to achieve when living in a western country. Research shows that it is both a challenging and fun environment in which to work and it also provides a great opportunity for personal development. A tefl course helps a person to increase their language awareness in the rules of grammar and phonology, from parts of speech such as nouns, adjectives, and verbs, learning how to correctly form sentences. Looking back on their past knowledge of learning English and being able to understand how their own language is used, is both rewarding and challenging. Learning methods of teaching, learning the various roles of a teacher such a being a manager, organiser, assessor, prompter, participant, tutor, facilitator, role model and observer in order to be successful in the classroom. A tefl course will show the person the importance of knowing when to combine these roles depending on the class activities or student requirements. Upon completion of a tefl course assistance is provided in several other areas, such as support and advice in creating a resume/CV, preparation, job guidance and counselling, job search, application and interview. Opportunities to live and learn about other cultures. Research has shown that not only is teaching English a good language to teach to students but is also raises hopes and spirits to know that a person can find work and learn about foreign cultures, it can make a person dreams become reality. While helping other foreigners to learn we also learn from them by living as part of their culture. Completing a tefl course would give a person the opportunity to embark on a new career and to learn new skills and techniques such as teaching in the classroom, which can help in most areas of life, such as dealing with difficult situations and people. My research made me aware that upon completion of a tefl course the on-line tutor can offer further direction for more advanced study and development. Setting and achieving personal challenges the tefl course is designed to allow maximum flexibility which enables a person to set the pace for the completion of the course. Receiving feedback from the on-line tutor is an excellent way of providing further assistance. Further assistance following the completion of the course by offering support for any problems in the classroom is reassuring as it will be a new environment. There are a vast amount of personal skills that a person will learn whilst trying to be a good teacher. These skills can also be used in every day life such as how to motivate people to learn, maintaining a friendly and patient rapport not only with students but with others around us. My research has shown me that the benefits of completing a tefl course are so vast that completing a tefl course can be the start of a new beginning.
