I have gained quite a bit of valuable knowledge and experience in this course. Although I have had some EFL teaching experience, the course offered many insights into teaching methodologies that I did not practice. Also by having that experience it greatly helped me with the course. Now I realize why I had success or failure with the classes I taught before. The EFL course showed me many strategies in dealing with various levels and ages of students. I realized I could have and can do a better job at teaching by doing some very simple things: a clear lesson plan, speak less in the students? native tongue, use more visuals to decrease the amount of TTT and give the students more chances to speak english. With this newly gained knowledge, I will be a more effective teacher. I plan on going into my next class with more confidence and many more skills at my disposal. I have learned to anticipate problems rather than reacting to them. I have a better understanding of recognizing the student?s needs and know how to prepare to meet their needs. Overall, the EFL course has taught me the fundamentals of teaching, not only english. Though these skills will require time to develop I now feel like a teacher and not just a person who teaches english because I know the language. The people who will gain from this course will be my future students! Thank You!
