This course has been such a great learning experience for me. I always knew that I had a passion for the english language and this course program solidified that. While I have had training and education in the study of the english language, I was new to the principles and practices of teaching. This course program has given me the knowledge and confidence to teach my own class one day. I have learned about motivating factors for students of all ages, ways to create efficient and effective lesson plans, positive ways to impact the lives of my learners, and how to be a great teacher. This program has taught me fundamentals of grammar that I know I will someday use in the classroom and also provided me with great references and resources for future lesson plans. Engage, Study, Activate is now part of my everyday thinking. I plan to keep all of these course materials handy for future reference in my teaching career. I know the lesson plan template will be a huge help as I begin my journey. The activate suggestions, such as role-play, word search, what would you do?, and countless others will find their way into my lesson plans. I don?t think I realized how vital group activities are to teaching english. I believe they help students gain confidence in their speaking while allowing them to get to know their peers and hopefully create new friendships. Most importantly I learned that you?ve got to have fun with it! I believe that students feed off of the personality and emotion of the teacher. Showing my students that I am happy and excited to be there with them will build a great rapport and help my students know that we are all in the learning process together.
