Teach English in Aoyuncun Jiedao [Olympic Village] - Beijing
Prior to beginning this TEFL-100hr course, I had no formal understanding of teaching english as a foreign language. I had heard many anecdotes and experiences from my friends who had/have been teaching EFL. Originally, I did not really know what to think as many of their stories covered a variety of teaching experiences. Through this course, I have been able to bridge this gap of knowledge. This course has given me invaluable insight into the world of EFL. I have learned countless new skills and techniques to aid me in my first year as an EFL teacher. I found Unit 14 to be very thorough and useful and I look forward to continually using the Lesson Plan Template in the coming year. I feel that I have refreshed my knowledge of english language structures in grammar and I have learned new terms that I hadn?t previously known. I feel that I will be challenged in teaching my FEL students pronunciation and phonology and I am excited to give it my best effort. This course gave me a realistic view of a poorly run lesson and a well organized and run lesson in Unit 15. It was not until I completed Unit 15 that I was able to actually conceive myself as an EFL teacher. I realized while watching lesson 1 of Unit 15 that I could not fathom teaching my class with any less conscience, enthusiasm or concern for my students than the teacher had in lesson 2 of Unit 15. I feel that this course has adequately prepared me to begin teaching EFL in South korea. Although I know I still have much to learn (in a practical sense), this course has given me a strong foundation from which to launch myself as a teacher of EFL. I feel that the 20 Units are a great resource for me to use for ESA stage activity ideas and websites to support m me in planning lessons. I found this course to be very comprehensive and I now feel competent in fulfilling my upcoming role as an EFL teacher in South Korea.
