Course books are very emotive issue for many teachers. Teacher sometimes need to create his/her own materials to either supplement the course book, or replace sections that are not suitable for the class. For many students, the materials create by teacher are more interesting, more relevant and a welcome change from the course book. These materials can be divided to two groups, authentic materials and created material The reasons of using authentic materials: they are real and therefor more interesting. 2. Students gain confidence when they understand them. 3 they can be geared to the interesting of a particular group of students. Created materials are usually designed by teachers to replace or supplement materials from a course book. Common created materials include: crosswords, word search puzzles, role-play cards, flashcards, gap-fill actives, and picture stories. The advantages of using course book: it?s usually expected by the students. It provide a syllabus which is graded to a level suitable for the students. However, the disadvantages are, it does not always fit the specific needs and interests of all the class members. It could be very predictable and boring to the students. It can make teachers lazy, and stop them being creative and searching for activities and materials which will motivate and interest their students.
