In this unit, classroom management is discussed and focuses on factors such as what teachers can do to engage students, and build a positive learning environment so all students can feel comfortable and participate. It is important for teachers to be consistent and build a good rapport from the start so students respect the teacher and vice versa. Depending on different groupings for activities, and seating within the classroom, the environment can be completely changed for different occasions. For example, in the \"horseshoe\" seating arrangement, a small group can benefit because students can see everyone and the teacher is in a less dominating position. This would help with shy students and allow full classroom involvement.
