In this Unit, I have been introduced to some principal moments of ESL teaching such as roles and definitions of a 'good teacher' as well as of a 'good learner', which I believe can be very helpful at class for their giving clarity and direction to the teacher. We are now equally aware of probable reasons which propel students in their English studies. The chart with learners' motivation, experiences and behavioral patterns with regards to their age, briefly highlights the approaches each teacher should bear in mind while dealing with various age groups. I have also examined the system of levels we use to evaluate learners' knowledge of English. In overall, this unit presents a clear introduction to key terms in ESL methodology.
