This unit focused on reading and listening, which are two important receptive skills when learning a new language. Like in previous units, the application of the ESA method was shown here. There was a great example of the ESA method using Elvis that acted as a sort of sample lesson that I found very helpful. Earlier in the unit, I learned of all the different ways we learn and read, and how they vary from each other; this will be very useful when teaching it to new learners. Some examples are skimming, predictive skills, and deduction. I also learned to be careful when selecting texts or listening activities for students. It is very important that these texts are right for their ability level, but also interesting and engaging.
