Unit 7 overview: Unit 7 was all about how to engage and active a students receptive skills when teaching a lesson. Beginning with the knowledge that using both reading and listening are an essential part of the process. It gave a detailed outline of various ways a student will take in information such as; using predictive skills, scanning information, skimming information, looking for detailed information and deduction skills. It pointed out problems when using reading and listening skills including methods to combat potential problems such as; try to use topics that are of interest to the students, how to generate topics of interest, pre-teaching complex vocabulary and provide tasks that are not too easy but not too difficult.
