In this unit, we discussed the pros and cons of using different materials for teaching a lesson. These materials included authentic materials such as newspaper, magazines, or radio interviews. There is also an option to teach with materials created by the teacher and materials from a published course book. All three types of materials have great benefits and it really depends on the students and the day to know whether or not to use them. For example, a course book has tried and true material and the students will be able to see their own progression when using it. However, the material can be very uninteresting and it is more engaging for the students when the teacher is engaged in creating materials directed towards the students.
