This unit is focused on the theories, methods and techniques to be used in order to be successful in teaching. Since there is no clear cut answer as to which is the best method and technique to use in class, this unit has given some commonly used methods and techniques, which include: grammar-translation, audio-lingualism,silent way, suggestopaedia and a host of others. it has also talked about the ESA (Engage Study Activate) which brings out the activities that should be done at every given stage of the lesson. What i have learnt from this unit is that for effective teaching to take place, no one method or technique should be used in isolation. rather thy should be combined at different stages of the lesson to get the best results.
