This unit deals with different techniques of teaching new language - vocabulary, grammar and language functions. I learnt that teaching vocabulary is very important, especially at the early stages. Some aspects of teaching vocabulary which are covered in this unit are: factors upon which it depends how easy a vocabulary item is to learn, factors considered in selecting a vocabulary item to teach, things that students need to know about a vocabulary item. I found it very useful that for each aspect of language to be taught (vocabulary, grammar and functions), a variety of techniques and activities suited for each stage of an ESA lesson are introduced. This part of the unit will definitely be helpful in my future teaching activities.
