In this lesson I learned about the teaching of phonology and pronunciation to students. The teaching of pronunciation is very important because it can often be a barrier in communication between the students and other English-speakers. Additionally, it is one of the few obstacles between becoming a truly fluent speaker and just an advanced speaker. Pronunciation is often neglected by teachers because it can be difficult to teach if you do not have a background in the subject or prior training. There are many aspects that go into teaching phonology and pronunciation. These include teaching the stress and intonation on different words in a sentence as well as teaching the individual sounds that make up words and how to say them correctly.
