Pronunciation is evidently a complex matter, a whole field of study even. While a teacher shouldn't try to make his students linguists, teaching pronunciation is still important. Many time, an improper pronunciation will not only make you appear unprofessional, it will also result in a statement not being correctly understood, or not understood at all. As the matter is complex, teaching this area is often daunting, especially for non native speaker. By learning the phonetic alphabet and get to know a bit about phonemes formation, a teacher can not only gain confidence in his ability to teach pronunciation, but also get effective at it.
