Unit 2 introduces the parts of speech in the English languages whilst giving examples and rules of these parts. For example, a noun names people, places, things, states, animals and qualities. Some of the types of nouns are Common, Proper, Compound, Abstract and Collective. Nouns can also be uncountable or countable, which determines which type of article (if at all) should be used. Other parts of speech introduced include adjectives, articles, verbs, adverbs, gerunds, pronouns, prepositions and conjunctions. Examples of these parts of speech are given, as well as explanations on how to use them and why students may have difficulty with learning them. For a Teacher of the English language, understanding these parts of speech is essential.
