Nouns are people, places, things, states/ideas. They are broken up into uncountable and countable, common and proper, collective, and compound. Verbs are actions, adjectives describe nouns. They can be comparative, ending in '-er' and superlatives ending in '-est'). Adverbs describe how an action is done, conjunctions join two clauses of a sentence with words like 'and/but'. Pronouns take the place of a noun. Possessive pronouns indicate ownership with 'my, his', reflexive pronouns are where the action is done to one's own self 'myself, himself'. Articles specify a noun with either definitive 'the' or indefinitive 'a/an'. Gerunds are -ing verbs that take the place of a noun, and infinitives are the overall verb, usually preceded with 'to'.
