As someone who has never formally taught before, this unit was helpful to me for two reasons: it introduced me to the variety of methodologies for teaching English as well as gave me many ideas for activities to include in my future lesson plans. I noticed many similarities between the Presentation, Practice and Production (PPP) and Engage, Study and Activate (ESA) methodologies in terms of lesson plan structure and expected outcomes which comes in handy because I think this is the method I will frequently use in my classroom. I also learned that there is room for flexibility and variability within these methodologies, such as the boomerang ESA or patchwork ESA models, so that I can always keep my students engaged and not become predictable.
