A teacher has many roles in a classroom. I always thought that a teacher has to explain everything clearly and in an understanding way. At the same time he has to keep the students interested. I learned it's far more than that. A teacher has to know when to step back and let the students learn the language themselves. He has to act as an observer as well. There's a big difference between young learners and adults. An adult will be more motivated to learn to language and have more willingness to ask questions. A young learner requires a different approach. They'll be unmotivated and unwilling to experiment with the language. They require more discipline. An enthusiastic, sensative, motivated and caring teacher will likely have good students.
