Lesson planning is not meant to create a rigid structure to follow, but a flexible plan. Different people have different styles, but it is always important to be prepared with a plan and the correct materials, anticipate potential problems, and stay focused on the objective of the lesson. Other important things to consider and include in the plan are: the goals for the teacher themselves, potential problems and proposed solutions for students and the teacher, the type of interaction, and length of time to take on each portion of the lesson. Self-reflection and evaluation during and after the lesson are also important for developing as a teacher and making the lesson more successful, should it be taught to another group of students in the future.
